Characterized by silence and deep introspection, sesshin is
recommended to anyone who is sincerely interested in
experiencing intensive Zen training. We wake up each day before
dawn to begin a schedule that includes 7 to 10 hours of zazen,
chanting services, formal silent meals in the zendo (Oryoki),
work practice and talks by Seijaku Roshi and senior Monks.
Sesshin is
an opportunity to receive personal guidance in private
interviews with Roshi, draw from the tremendous strength of
people practicing together and experience the deep stillness
that lies within each one of us.
Because sesshin is
a very intensive retreat, those wishing to attend should first
complete an Introduction Class during the year prior to
O-Rohatsu. ORohatsu Sesshin may be joined in progress, some as
late as Friday evening.
The Seven-Day O-Rohatsu sesshin commemorates
Buddha's Enlightenment and is an annual opportunity for the
serious student of meditation and authentic spiritual
practitioner
to grow with other like-minded and devoted persons.
The sesshin will begin with an orientation on Monday December
6,
2010 at 7:00 pm. Oryoki instruction and Zendo Etiquette
will be offered.
(No matter what level you choose to participate in this
sesshin, you are required to attend Orientation and Opening
Ceremonies on December 6th.)

which is recommended but optional):
