Welcome to The Zen Society
Pine Wind Zen Community of Southern New Jersey

Pine Wind Zen (Center) was established in 2000 by
Seijaku Roshi and his monks and students. Seijaku Roshi is known to countless visitors, and is the author of the book, "Kokoro - The Heart Within - Zen Beyond Buddhism".

We offer public programs in
meditation, monthly Dharma talks, retreats, Buddhist Studies, Zen Training Program for Home Practitioners (Living a Zen-Inspired Life), Zen-Life Counseling and Coaching.

"Through daily meditation, prayer, and contemplation, in our Zen Community, we aspire to be transformed in mind and heart by embodying the Buddhadharma (the Path of Loving-Kindness, Compassion, and Service) in ways appropriate for our times."

The roots of our practice reach back to the teachings of the Buddha, written 2,500 years ago. A tradition strong enough to transcend time and place is important to us. Yet we view it from our own time and place and adapt it to our present lives, striving to make accessible to the public opportunities to train and practice Serene Meditation; dialogue, study, and find commonality in the ancient Zen tradition, and the Dessert Father's and Mother's of the West, as conveyed to us by Seijaku Roshi and other teachers.

Our practice flows from the conviction that all beings are enlightened and endowed with inherent wisdom, compassion, and love, and that living an authentic spiritual life grounded in a devotion to cultivating these inherent qualities is itself the realization of Buddha nature, or Enlightenment.

Today, Jizo-an Monastery/Pine Wind Zen Community is one of the most unique Zen-Buddhist Sangha's with a diverse population of students, visitors, lay people, priests, and monks guided by teachers who follow in Seijaku Roshi's style.

All are welcome!

"In order to meet the challenges facing all of us, we will need a spirituality grounded in the human heart, rather than beliefs or ideals.  One that cultivates the best in each of us, challenges us to function at the level of full self-expression, and affirms the fundamental and immeasurable value of every living being."

- Seijaku Roshi
