The Essentials of Zen and Authentic Spirituality

Join Seijaku Roshi for an evening designed to deepen our appreciation of the central teachings of Zen and Authentic Spirituality, so we may practice wholeheartedly and integrate the practice more fully into our everyday living.

It is only with the heart that one can see rightly;
what is essential is invisible to the eye.

—ANTOINE DE SAINT-EXUPÉRY

"If we were to ask the Buddha, "What is bodhichitta?" he might tell us that this word is easier to understand than to translate. He might encourage us to seek out ways to find its meaning in our own lives. He might tantalize us by adding that it is only bodhichitta that heals, that bodhichitta is capable of transforming the hardest of hearts and the most prejudiced and fearful of minds."

- Pema Chodron "The Places that Scare You"

"Liberating the Human Heart"

The evening will include a guided meditation instruction, a teaching on cultivating and nurturing "heart-mind", the mind that expresses itself through joy, compassion, and confidence.  "It is only bodhichitta that heals, bodhichitta is capable of transforming the hardest of hearts and the most prejudiced and fearful of minds."

There will be time for questions and answers.  Each night will address a particular topic surrounding our daily living experiences.

No matter one's religious affiliation anyone wishing to deepen their experience of the sacred in daily living will appreciate these Wednesday evening talks.  Beginners and Seasoned Practitioners are invited.

These evening Dharma Talks can be attended as a series or independently.
