Characterized by silence and deep introspection, Zen Meditation - a Way of Life can help us find peace within ourselves and develop a strong, yet flexible, mind.

The retreat is designed for those new to Zen as well as the more seasoned student of meditation. The One-Day Retreat introduces the most important aspects of Zen Training for Home Practitioners.

  • What is Zen Training?

  • What does it mean to practice Zen?

  • What is Enlightenment?

  • How can The-Way-of-Zen support me in my daily living including my relationships and work or career responsibilities?

  • Establish the fundamentals of sitting meditation practice.

  • Cultivate awareness and the ability to bring mindfulness to daily activities at home and in the workplace.

  • Understand The Foundations of an Authentic Spiritual Practice.

  • What are the Qualities of the Truly Liberated Life.

  • Explore intra-and-interpersonal habits of thoughts, feelings, actions and re-actions that arise in everyday situations and learn ways to practice with them towards living fearlessly and fully.

This one-day retreat will include periods of zazen (seated meditation),
walking meditation, chanting, formal silent meals in the Zendo (Oryoki), and Dharma Teachings so that you can understand the teachings in a direct and personal manner.

In this retreat you will have the opportunity to experience the unique benefits that come from practicing alongside other like-minded people, and to directly explore the student-teacher relationship.

The day is led by Seijaku Roshi, accompanied by senior monks, lay-monks (brown robes), and formal students (grey robes).

The day offers the opportunity to receive personal guidance in private interviews with Seijaku Roshi, to draw from the tremendous strength of people practicing together, and to experience the deep serenity that lies within each one of us. An excellent way to explore and deepen one's spiritual and meditation practice.

Whether one is a beginner or a seasoned practitioner of meditation this one-day retreat will certainly prove to be an experience over which you will never get!
